Did Elon just confirm the plan?

A note from our friends at Millionaire Publishing(ad)

Dear Reader,

Everyone wants to know what Elon Musk is planning next.

I believe this is it – what I’m calling, “Mission X.”

Elon’s bold new plan to ship AI off the Earth entirely – and launch it into the stars.

He confirmed it himself:

“I see a path to SpaceX being worth orders of magnitude more than the current Earth economy.”
– Elon Musk

Because I promise you, he’s not just talking about launching rockets.

It’s why I’ve just released all the details of “Mission X” – including a FREE ticker to get positioned at practically the ground floor – without buying SpaceX or Tesla.

Best,

Tim Bohen

P.S. Billionaire Peter Thiel once said: “I would never bet against Elon, in anything. That’s hard rule number one.”
The skeptics are lining up again. But you don’t have to miss out.

Chubb Reports Tonight. The Cat Line Is the Only Number That Matters.

Markets don’t need uncertainty to create risk. Sometimes they create it by removing it too early. Chubb heads into tonight’s after-close report having added roughly 3% over the past month, propelled by favorable read-throughs from property and casualty peers. That rally was a bet placed before the evidence arrived. The evidence arrives after the bell today.

Consensus expects Chubb to post $6.79 per share on revenue of $15.71 billion, against $7.49 per share and $16.15 billion in the year-ago quarter. The implied year-over-year EPS decline sits at 9.3%. That is not a beat buried inside a guide-down. That is the base case. And the stock is priced for something better.

The Peer Signal That May Not Transfer

Travelers delivered Q3 2026 core income of $9.18 per share, surpassing analysts’ $7.49 forecast by 22.6%. Core return on equity came in at 22.1%, with underwriting income of $1.4 billion and a combined ratio of 86.8%. A strong result by any measure. But Travelers’ beat was built on higher net favorable prior year reserve development and increased net investment income, partially offset by higher catastrophe losses. Reserve releases are not transferable. They are company-specific accounting events, not sector tailwinds.

Despite TRV’s EPS beat, the stock traded down 4.2% to $367.85 immediately following the results, according to StockStory. That reaction carried a message: the market wanted more than a beat. It wanted a clean beat with no asterisks on the combined ratio or book value. Chubb walks into the same expectation tonight, with less room to absorb disappointment because the stock is already higher.

The Cat Line Decides It

Chubb’s Q2 2026 P&C combined ratio was 83.8%, with catastrophe losses contributing 1.9 percentage points to that ratio. The current accident year combined ratio, excluding catastrophe losses and prior period development, held at 82.2%. That baseline underwriting quality is not in dispute. What is in dispute is how much the third quarter’s elevated storm and flooding activity shifts the cat load above or below the number already embedded in the $6.79 consensus.

Underwriting profitability faces strong headwinds from elevated catastrophe losses due to recent severe U.S. storms and flooding, with combined policy acquisition and administrative expense pressures projected to drive the consensus combined ratio up to approximately 87.2. An 87.2 combined ratio would be more than 3 points worse than Q2. Whether CB delivers 85 or 90 is the entire game.

Also worth watching: North America Commercial P&C net premiums written fell 2.3% year over year in Q2, with the large account and E&S property segment down 9.0%, even as middle market and small commercial grew 8.9%. A further softening in the large account segment tonight would compound the cat headwind.

Options Market Analysis

This is not about whether Chubb beats or misses. It is about whether the options market has priced the range of outcomes correctly. Implied volatility on CB sits at 18.69%, with an IV rank of 33.77% and an IV percentile of 28%. Options data implies a move of 3.2% on the earnings release. That is the market’s stated expectation.

The historical record argues for a wider distribution. CB’s actual post-earnings move exceeded the implied move in three of the past eight quarters: shares rose 8.6% against a 2.9% implied move in February, fell 3.6% against a 3.0% implied on July 22, 2025, and dropped 4.8% against a 2.7% implied move on October 29, 2024. A low IV rank entering a quarter where the cat load is the key variable is a combination worth noting. The Put/Call volume ratio is 0.12, indicating calls are dominating flow, consistent with the pre-earnings rally positioning.

Structured Trade Framework

Bull case: For traders expecting Chubb to deliver a cat load at or below Q2 levels and defend the accident-year combined ratio near 82-83%, a defined-risk call spread on the October 24 expiry targeting the $360-$370 range captures a move toward the 52-week high of $365.91 with capped downside.

Bear case: If you believe the Q3 cat load lands materially above consensus and the combined ratio breaches 90%, a defined-risk put spread centered around the $340-$330 range reflects the TRV-style post-beat selloff scenario extended to a miss. Chubb has beaten the consensus EPS estimate in eight of its last eight quarters, so outright puts carry significant premium decay risk into a historically strong beat rate.

Neutral case: Given low IV rank and a compressed expected move, a long strangle or straddle on the October 24 expiry positions for the vol expansion that history suggests is plausible, without requiring a directional call on the cat number itself. The defined-risk cost of the strangle is the maximum loss.

Risk Factors

EPS estimates span a wide range from $6.10 to $7.47 across 22 analysts, which reflects genuine disagreement on the cat load, not noise. Wide dispersion ahead of a report means post-release moves are harder to predict directionally. Position sizing matters here more than side selection.

Checklist Before the Bell

  • Watch the reported P&C combined ratio against the 87.2 consensus projection
  • Check cat losses against Q2’s 1.9-point baseline and Q3 2025’s prior-year figure
  • Monitor North America Commercial net premiums written for further large-account softening
  • Track IV behavior into the close: expansion signals the market is pricing the event risk
  • Size any defined-risk structure to accommodate the historical post-earnings move distribution, not the 3.2% implied figure alone
