ARM’s forecast meets pricey options

ARM’s forecast meets pricey options

Implied volatility says the market is still braced for a sharp move.

The signal today is not Arm’s headline. It’s the price of uncertainty.

Going into Arm’s results on July 29, 2026 (after the close), options are still carrying very high implied volatility, with the market pricing roughly a 10% move over the next couple of days. Put and call positioning is also tilted slightly defensive on volume and open interest, which is a tell: traders are paying up for protection even after the stock already backed off hard from late June highs. That combination usually means one thing. The market is not confident the optimistic AI demand outlook is fully “in the price” yet.

Here’s where it gets interesting: Arm’s own messaging has been increasingly upbeat on AI driven demand, especially tied to data center momentum and next wave CPU roadmaps. In the company’s fiscal Q4 2026 update (reported May 6, 2026), Arm called out record quarterly revenue ($1.49B) and full year revenue ($4.92B), and also highlighted more than $2B of customer demand across fiscal 2027 and 2028 related to its new CPU efforts. That is the fundamental backdrop behind why traders keep returning to ARM as a volatility story.

“Zuck doesn’t stand a chance.”

Meta is entering an entirely new market, that’s growing faster than AI, with their latest project, codenamed “Arena”. The only problem? Zuckerberg is a day late and a dollar short. Luke Lango, the man once ranked top stock picker in the world on TipRanks says “Zuck doesn’t stand a chance.”

A lot of “AI chip demand” headlines get interpreted as GPU demand. Arm is different. This is about architecture and royalties, and the timing can be lumpy. So when management talks about accelerating AI adoption, the market immediately asks a second question: when does that convert into licensing and royalty dollars, and how smooth is that ramp?

Market expectations look elevated. Implied volatility is above historical volatility, and recent readings were even higher earlier in July. That tells you traders expect a real gap risk around the event, not a quiet drift.

Strategic considerations (process, not a promise): when the expected move is this large, directional longs need to be right twice, direction and magnitude. If you agree the forecast tone can stay strong but think the market is overpaying for movement, premium selling structures (defined risk) start to make more sense. If you think the market is underestimating how violent the reaction could be either way, defined risk long volatility can fit, but you have to respect how quickly implied vol can fall after the event.

A new way to profit from the AI boom

There is a new way for you to play the AI boom.

One that has nothing to do with buying stocks or guessing who will win the AI race.

Best of all, every 90 days you get fresh chances to make a profit.

It all comes down to what Wall Street legend Larry Benedict calls “AI Profit Loops.”

Played the right way, one of these “Loops” could have turned every $1,000 into $9,000 in a matter of weeks.

Discover how you can get started with “AI Profit Loops” today.

What I’m watching next: (1) whether Arm’s demand commentary expands beyond general AI excitement into specific conversion, timelines, and which end markets are pulling forward, (2) whether the post earnings implied vol collapses in a “relief” way or stays sticky, and (3) whether put positioning keeps building even if the stock stabilizes. The last one is usually the quiet clue.

Worth a look: compare the priced move to the actual move the morning after results, then ask if the market paid too much for fear, or not enough.
